Islas las Aves - Southern Caribbean
Plenty of birds here on these islands.
Aves means birds.
It's extremely nice here.
Fish, most exciting diving,
nobody bothers you,
clean water and beaches,
It's like Islas Los Roques but
here is less regulation.
For us it's paradise here. We have been here at least 20 times over the past years.

The westerly group, 25 nm east of Bonaire is called "Aves de Sotovento". The more easterly is "Aves de Barlovento". Each of them consists of about 20 square miles of sandy patches or islands, reef, mangroves, shallow lagoon, sea grass beds. Population: a few fisherman escaping hassle life of Margarita and 10 guardacostas exiled here for 3 months, the first supply fish and lobster, the latter a friendly feeling. No visa costs involved to stay but give something to the guys, like cigarette, rum or a T-shirt. |
